1st Campaigner.... even if it's just for fun!

I know I am too late to join First Campaigner, but after learning about it from Deana Barnhart's blog, I decided to join in anyways.  Here is "The Challenge" this week:

Write a short story/flash fiction story in 200 words or less, excluding the title. It can be in any format, including a poem. Begin the story with the words, “The door swung open” These four words will be included in the word count.

If you want to give yourself an added challenge (optional), use the same beginning words and end with the words: "the door swung shut." (also included in the word count)

For those who want an even greater challenge, make your story 200 words EXACTLY!

Here is my post:
Beneath the Sheet
The door swung open.
He thought they were wrong.
The heart inked into her transparent skin seems to beat at a rhythm he memorized.
He thought they were wrong.
His eyes link with the officers. He nods.
He thought they were wrong.
The door swung shut.
(Word Count: 46)

This was my first experience with flash fiction and it was pretty darn fun! Alright.... back to work! (no more distractions today!)

Daily Writing Wrap-up #1 and In My Mailbox

Alright, today was the first day I've really written in about 1.5 weeks. I know. I know. Get the ruler and smack me with it for being lazy and now putting myself in the position of totally "freak-out" mode.
I cannot lie to you.... it was HARD!
I felt completely distracted and just couldn't find my rhythm.  I'm guessing I will find my rhythm sometime tonight.... when I should be sleeping!

Stats for today:
Time Spent Writing: 2.5 hours (will write later after derby practice)
Pages Completed: 2 (not a lot, but they are 2 good pages)
Word Count: 14, 546 (I deleted a giant section which dropped me down in word count)
Word Count Goal: 60,000 (or so)
Words to go: 45, 454 (aka a "crap-ton")
Writer's Conference: 51 days (10-28-2011)
Inner Dialogue: "Holy buckets Batman.... you have a shit-load to write. WTFT.... omg.... **insert freak out**"

In other news, here is what is In My Mailbox this week:

1. Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro: I saw the movie preview and want to check out the book.
2. Catch by Will Leitch: It was 70% off at Borders.
3. The Power of Six by Pittacuz Lore: Book club book this month.
4. Linger by Maggie Stiefvater: This is next up to read.
5. Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead: Yup.... still behind.
6. Shade by Jeri Smith Ready
7. Shift by Jeri Smith Ready: Well, they go together and they looked cool.
8. Angel Burn by l.a. Weatherly: The cover. End of Story.
9. Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick: Behind the 8 ball again.... oh well!

Hey.... uh... where has Sara been lately?!

HELLO Everyone!!

You may or may not (hopefully the 1st) have been wondering where Sara has been. Well....

In all seriousness thought, sorry to have been MIA for the past 2 weeks.  I have been preparing and taking an amazing trip to NYC!! (pictures and posts to come soon)

I'm back at home and trying to get reorganized (you know how it is).

I have also realized just how soon my deadline is for my very 1st WIP! Sooo.... I am going to be focusing on that hardcore.  I've also decided that in order for me to stick to it and stay focused to make a quick post at the end of every writing session (tell you guys how it went, what issues I had, word count, etc.).  I am hoping it will make me that much more accountable because gosh forbid I allow you guys to go 1 whole day without hearing from me at least once!! (Hey.... you just got a ten day break from me so now you're going to go into Sara overload. :0) )

Any words of encouragement would be GREATLY appreciated! I'll try to post as many of my regular meme's as I can, but they are going to be priority #2. :0)

Remember to send love, give love, be love!
